The bible is silent on the issue of smoking and drinking but from what I feel , I think a true believer of Jesus should not be engaged in drinking and smoking because it does not edify Christ in anyway . What does not edify Christ in the life of a believer is synonymous with sin .

The habit of Drinking and smoking are not sin... but they are carnal things a christain should not do becos it empowers your flesh

The more you gratify the desires of your flesh the less willing you are to obey the spirit of God...

On their own, not sin but can potentially cause you to sin.
Also indulging in such habits generally associated with unbelievers may dampen the faith of other believers looking up to you & cause them to sin
