Urges Wabara, Abaribe, others to withdraw support
The South East Democratic Civil Society Coalition (SEDSOC), yesterday, rejected the purported endorsement of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, for the presidency in 2023.
Former President of the Senate, Adolphus Wabara and Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, both of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, are among those said to be canvassing for Anyim to contest the presidency.
But in a statement issued by National Convener of SEDSOC, Chief Willy Ezugwu, the coalition, which described Anyim’s endorsement as “hasty and self-serving,” demanded immediate withdrawal of the endorsement.
“The South East has eminently qualified persons capable of transforming Nigeria if given the chance by the electorate to serve as President in 2023.
“To this end, we view Anyim’s endorsement as too hasty and self-serving. Those clamouring for him to run for the presidency chose to jump the gun in what can only be interpreted as self-serving and an attempt to stampede the South East bloc into their own private agenda.
“How Abaribe, who is one of our own, joined the bandwagon of some selfish South East politicians to engage in the controversial outing, is shocking and disappointing,” the statement reads.
Specifically, the group demanded that Abaribe should immediately withdraw his endorsement, insisting: “Whatever happened between Anyim and the politicians is a nullity and does not reflect the mood of South East people.”
Ezugwu stressed that South East leaders were already in the process of consultations across party lines to shop for the best, who would not only represent the interest of Ndigbo, but also has capacity and broad-mindness to carry along all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, tribe or political leanings.
“Ndigbo are not ready to mess up the opportunity to present our best to Nigerians, as many prominent persons are being consulted before zeroing on one or two candidates among those interested in contesting the position from the zone.
“SEDSOC vehemently opposes Ayim’s hasty endorsement for president of the country in 2023,” it added.

Everyone is free to give the presidency a shot, but the major parties should choose those they consider the most sellable. However, surviving Buhari's presidency should be everyone's major concern now.

Rightly said Anyim isn't the Best SE can present that's not disputed...
But what region has ever put their best forward? None so this is not valid.

Even sef this group didn't hint on anyone else, so I'll assume they're playing the spoiler.

They are only worried that Abaribe and Wabara are rather too quick to support Anyim when actually, primaries have not taken place.

Traitors and Betrayers die miserably.

Igbos must present their best hands because this 2023 Presidency is for Igbos. So, as many Igbos as possible should come out and join the race. At the end of the exercise, one or two Igbos will be presented to face the Yoruba candidates.

Igbos must put their acts and hearts together and present their best and mobilize support for them in good time and not when the general election is few weeks away.

If Igbos make another mistake this time again, Yorubas will snatch the Presidency from Igbos again. Not for the good of the Yoruba race, but for looting by the few elite looters lead by the Jagaban Borgu.

The CRAB MENTALITY is pervasive in the South East indeed, just look at this.

Their inability to rally round one of their own, forge a common front, and take that which rightfully belongs to them in their beloved party, the pdp, is the reason why the party will keep treating them with so much disrespect.

Pdp has no regard for ibos whatsoever. They're confident in the fact ibos dont care how they treat them, knowing all Easterners would do regardless of Pdp's disposition towards them is HATE APC. It is like a curse.

Now they have a candidate and they're already pulling him down, just the same way they have been trying to pull down every likely contestant from the West under APC- which frankly should be none of their business!

When would you people ever take responsibility for your actions? For how long would you people continue to be blaming those who are not part of your region's problems?

Na only u get sense for here I swear.

They are paid Tinubu urchins in Igboland.

How many Igbos have declared their ambition to run? Only Anyim.

Now the only one that has declared his ambition to run, you have issues that he’s getting endorsement. Are they mad?

No true Igbos will do that.

You want to reserve endorsement for people that hasn’t summoned the courage to declare to contest but are quick to deny having a hand whenever a poster of their presidential ambition is sighted anywhere.

Ndi ala!

These are the kind of people that Unknown Gun Men should be disappearing immediately.
