On Thursday, December 30, 2021, history was made in the Nigerian Army when two brothers from the same parents, one the elder and Corps Commander, Nigerian Army Artillery, Major Gen TA Gagariga, and his younger brother Teriworie Gagariga, were both promoted to Major General.

Both siblings are from Bayelsa State in South-South Nigeria and serve in the same artillery corps.



Meanwhile, the Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), has exhorted recently promoted Senior Military Officers to redouble their efforts to address the country’s present security issues.

Gen Magashi issued the challenge at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess, Asokoro, Abuja, at the major investiture ceremony of newly promoted officers in the Nigerian Army.

He stated that “to whom much is given, much is demanded,” emphasizing the need of the newly honored Officers demonstrating selfless devotion to the nation in order to justify their new ranks.

The minister, while delivering President Muhammadu Buhari’s message of congratulations, said their promotion to the coveted ranks was highly deserved and advised them to remain focused in the fulfillment of their duty in order to comprehensively defeat the foes.
