I have always wondered why some Muslims claim they don't have anything to do with new year celebration. Even when you great some happy new year, hadly will they respond. Is is that they are still in 2021 or they run a different calendar year?

Yeah! Muslims have nothing to do with the Gregorian calendar! It is used because it is common for day to day activities particularly salary earners!

The Lunar calendar is what Islam is based on and the calendar runs from Muharram the first month to Dhul Hijjah the twelveth month! Ramadan is the 9th month wherein all capable Muslims fast.

The months of January, etc were named after certain gods Janus, etc and Islam is far removed from idolatry!

Lastly, there are only three celebrations in Islam Viz: The 'Eid Al Adha wherein capable Muslims slaughter cattle, 'Eid Al fitr after Ramadan fast and Friday of every week!

So Muslims that didn't answer you did so not because they hate you but because its against the tenet of Islam to do such!
