Adebayo Ogunlesi was born on 20 December 1953 into the family of Theophilus Ogunlesi, the first Nigerian professor of medicine at the university of Ibadan.
He hails from Ogun state in Nigeria and went to King's College secondary school in Nigeria. After his secondary school, he attended Oxford University in England where he bagged first-class honors in philosophy, politics, and economics.
