FIFA have announced the final 3-man shortlist of the The BEST awards 2021, but some big names have been excluded.

The final three man shortlists of THE BEST award, which is awarded annually by FIFA to the best players and coach in men's and women's football has been announced.

The flagship award show is scheduled to be held this year on January 17, 2022, in an online ceremony so as not to aggravate the spread of the coronavirus.

FIFA had previously announced a list of 11 players, and a public poll was available on the organization's website for football fans to select the player they considered to have the best performance in 2021.

Previously the initial list announced by FIFA included in no particular order:

Karim Benzema (France / Real Madrid),
Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium / Manchester City),
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / Juventus / Manchester United),
Erling Holland (Norway / Borussia Dortmund),
Jorginho (Italy / Chelsea),
N'golo Kante (France / Chelsea),
Robert Lewandowski (Poland / Bayern Munich),
Kylian Mbappe (France / Paris Saint-Germain),
Lionel Messi (Argentina / Barcelona / Paris Saint-Germain),
Neymar (Brazil / Paris Saint-Germain), and
Mohamed Salah (Egypt) Liverpool).
Now FIFA announced that the extended 11-man shortlist has been trimmed to just three finalists.
