Your teacher is insane!! WTF, i was actually trying to reason with the bathing shiit, not until i saw, not to wash under there. What nutrient?? Nurti C or D?

The bathing one, i also heard it somewhere, that it's not good to bath too much, like everyday. But i didn't listen to the sucker who said so. But as for washing down there, come on now, common sense?

iono abt ppl not takin their showers erryday, personally it ain't clean. i know some ladies don't wash down there with soap or that ish cos it irritates them, now that part is understandable, but not takin a shower at least once a day is dirty as far as i'm concerned. Until i see a test(n by test, i mean kinda like some sorta sickness whereby tests are done n they've come to d conclusion that it's cos of bathing regularly) where it sayz bathing everyday is not good, i shall continue to wash o.
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by ocho(f): 8:37pm On Feb 16, 2006
oh yeah,a friend actually told me the something similar. Apparently her health teacher said the same thing in class some time ago,but she didn't give a restricted amount of baths/showers that was good enough for the body. The one of showering just two times a week? shocked shocked i can bet that that's not in any way healthy.
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by oasis: 8:59pm On Feb 16, 2006
As far as I know, daily bath is not recommended only for people with eczema. Such people often have dry and irritated skin, and frequent baths exacerbates the problem by stripping moiture away.

Usually the skin produces natural oils and moisture that combats dry skin problem. If someone with eczema bathes daily, and uses artificial moisturizers, the moisturizer may not be able to penerate the micro grooves on the skin. This leads to itching sensation. But because the body's oils come from inside out, all those grooves are well oiled naturally.

Besides eczema, there's really no reason not to shower daily. In fact, hot morning showers invigorate me, especially when it's cold outside.
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by nike4luv(f): 9:02pm On Feb 16, 2006
ur teacher must be white [no offence] because thats what they believe, bath once in seven days!
but lets see like this, this people have a different idea of what bath is some say bath is when u soak urself in water while some people say bath is when u use soap and sponge, which one is which?
maybe ur teacher meant the one of soaking urself in the water,

do u soak urself in water everyday? [thats what he might mean]

@ oasis

I have eczema and i take showers every single day

and if u don't take a shower everyday that means oni dooti ni e

but like i always say do u and let us know the results
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by oasis: 12:24am On Feb 17, 2006
I have eczema and i take showers every single day

I'm sure you know something the scientific community doesn't.

I think it also depends on the kind of soap used.  If your skin is dry from eczema, and you take daily baths with harsh soap like normal people would, would that help or worsen the situation?

I believe people are too quick to judge the white person.  Their lifestyles are often different from ours.  Most swim daily.  Which is a form of bathing.  Many work under controlled temperatures.  Which means they won't sweat.   White people do stuff that most blacks don't.  Besides, white skin is different from black skin.  And since, I'm not white, who am I to judge?

I'm just trying to make you guys think rationally here.

That being said, I must say there are some white people that are just plain filthy.  So filthy, you can smell it.  But then again you'd find such among blacks also.

If you sweat a lot at your job, or if you're a construction worker or auto mechanic for example, your bathing should be frequent. But if you're somebody who sits all day long in an air-conditioned room, drives in an air-conditioned car, and then goes home to have a swim, maybe you don't need daily baths.  Agree?
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by Nobody: 4:02am On Feb 17, 2006
@Oasis

Do u mean u dont bathe everyday?
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by oasis: 4:32am On Feb 17, 2006
I do.

But I probably won't, if I had eczema. That's what the discussion is about, isn't it? I hope you're following the train of thought.

Let me break it down for you.

Blacks say daily bath is a must, no matter what. Blacks have no real reason for this position.
Whites say twice a week will suffice. Whites probably have done extensive research on the effects on the skin.
Scientists say eczematous skin gets worse with frequent baths. Do you agree or disagree?

I say don't judge white, since you're black, and therefore have no idea what frequent baths does to white skin.

I hope that's simple enough for you to follow.
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by princeonx: 6:35am On Feb 17, 2006
Does that mean I'm close to death since I wash up twice a day? You know what? tell that teacher that I can live without whatever that nutrient is! then for the ladies, please and please don't listen to that teacher or whoever says you'll be loosing nutrients if you wash down there always! if possible, wash down there each time you use the bathroom! polish am daily, shine am, dust am, do whatever you can to keep it clean!
Na this type Fela dey say Teacher don teach me nonsense! I pity that teacher wife/husband! kai! Allah kiyaye!
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by nferyn(m): 8:37am On Feb 17, 2006
It all depends on your skin type and the condition of your skin. I'm white, my wife's black and consequently, our childen are mixed.

I shower every morning and wash my hair three times per week. I don't need to use any moisteriser because my skin doesn't need it. My wife bathes twice per day and the children once like me. My wife uses body milk every times she bathes because if she wouldn't her skin would dry out quickly. I never need to do that. My children only need to use body milk 2 or 3 times per week. Their skin would be too greasy if they would do it more.

Skin treatment really depends on your skin type, but bathing once per week, gross undecided undecided

PS: There's no problem in taking a bath only once a week, but only if you wash yourself thoroughly every day.
Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by oasis: 8:44am On Feb 17, 2006
@nferyn

That is exactly what I've been trying to point out.

Most proponents of daily bath are black. These people have no idea what effect such action has on the white skin, yet they're vocal about criticising whites for not doing what blacks do daily.

I also depends on the climate you live in. If I were living in Africa, I would probably bathe 3 or 4 times a day because of sweating. I just hate the rancid smell of dried up sweat.

Re: Bathing Every Day Not The Best? by uniben82(f): 2:33pm On Feb 17, 2006
I’ve read many interesting perspectives on this subject. It’s amazing how some of us are so quick to jump on the finger pointing band wagon of judgment.  Those of you who very quickly deviated from the “issue” (bathing) and started launching “personal” attacks on (white people), should remember this…
“Don’t judge a man (or a woman for that matter) unless you’ve walked a mile in his shoes.”
Over here in the US, if someone says “I hate taking a bath”, that doesn’t necessarily translate to “I don’t like to get cleaned up”.  It could simply mean that that individual would rather take a shower instead.  My husband is one of those people.  Throughout the past thirteen years of our marriage, he has only taken a bath 3 times.  shocked  Yep, he’s white and does not smell like a wet dog!
Most of us, if not all, irrespective of race or ethnicity have a body chemistry that predisposes us to body odor when personal hygiene measures are not adhered to routinely.  You with bad breath, do you think it’s less offensive than someone who smells from lack of a bath?  So you take showers daily. You believe you’re squeaky clean.   Tell me, when was the last time you flossed your teeth? Did you know that oral bacteria can be more detrimental to your health than the aftermath of not bathing?  Okay.  I’ll make myself stop for now. I’ve said enough.
P.S I don't bathe everyday either ; especially in the winter, when outdoors physical activities are limited. However, if I didn't use a deordorant, diaper wipes as needed and brush my teeth regularly, I'm sure I'll stink too and I'm not Oyinbo! grin
Have a great day everyone! smiley
