Hello Nairalanders, First of all, I would like to apologise to the mods and everyone affected should this not be the right section to post this. So, I'm just done with NYSC and got a new job with a relatively good pay. I also just moved to a new place with pathetic and epileptic power supply. My work is hybrid (I work mostly from home) and delivery is mostly online. Due to the bad condition of power here, delivery output has been poor. I've thought of getting a generator that will serve my power needs but omo, reading from many news source about this impending subsidy removal, I've decided to opt for solar energy. Now, here's the thing: I only need a setup that will best suit my everyday usage. My equipment are as follow: 1) Laptop - 90w 2) 2 phones - 12w 3) Standing fan - 30w Time usage: 8hours I am really not a TV person, so, that's scrapped for usage. My fridge will be dependent on Nepa light. I took off the bulbs in one of my rooms (my workstation) because I love a dark space. These won't be counting either. A quick one: I've read some articles and watched some videos and still can't really get a hang off the calculations. I really need a pointer to what solar panel Watts to get, Batteries and inverters to use. I'd appreciate your inputs. Thank you! 1 Like |

Ideally, you can get 100ah 12v Lifepo4 battery at 125k 500W Ceepro Inverter at 30k 280W x 2 Solar panel (100k (Not sure)) PowMr or Epever Mppt Controller at around 50k Wire and Installation cost. That set up above will serve you very well. Plus you can also add your tv and light bulbs to it. If you are looking for something low budget, then you can get the 480W laptop power bank from www.cooldipo.com. It should help you power your laptop and charge your phone plus power a small DC fan. You can add a 150W solar panel for charging. 1 Like |

You may install the solar system but, you might want to get a portable generator (just in case). 1 Like |

Stephenmoka4: Yeah... I've given thoughts to the gen thingy but i really need something that's cost-effective for the foreseeable future. I might run the gen right after the solar installation tho. Thanks fam. |
