Money from LNG from the SE and the SS gets to Nigeria. Nigeria uses the money to develop new infrastructures in the North, SW, and Niger Republic, excludes the SE and the SS from modern development infrastructures. Only a God-forsaken country would do that. |

tammyf:Cooking gas (LPG) is also liquified There is a fundamental difference between LPG and LNG We use LPG in Nigeria to cook and it is also liquified NOT METHANE LNG is mainly methane while LPG tends to be butane LNG is stored at very low temperature minus 160 degrees Celsius enabling larger quantities to be squeezed into smaller spaces making it worthwhile as a business The LNG is then transported by special ships and at the other end there has to be a REGASSIFICATION PLANT. These are all capital intensive infrastructure that has to be justified on commercial groundS We use methane to power energy plants and this is delivered by pipeline . There is no need to liquefy methane for use in Nigeria because there are pipelines The main reason for liquefaction is to reduce cost of transportation . I know there has been talk of pipeline through the Sahara and the Mediterranean as an alternative which I believe would be commercially viable but the politics and security could be a challenge 3 Likes |

aribisala0:this is what u should have said at the first instance instead of the insult. No matter what u say, we have almost all the raw materials here, we have the resources to buy the ones we don't have in order to produce what we need. Then what is stopping us, if not evil leadership. |

Does it matter? Everyone with a moderate amount of experience knows it ultimately does NOT matter. Not even an iota will translate into making the lives of your average Nigerians better. The highest exporter of LNG in Africa, yet no substantial revenue to boast about; still dealing with accruing debt stock of over N39tn. Are we not doomed? |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 2:26pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
The simple truth is that exporting energy is not wise . It might benefit the oil companies but not Nigera. What we need to do is to use energy to industrialize and manufacture those things we import that we can make locally Also energy is very important in agriculture. Today we are still using machetes and hoes to do what could be powered by machines Check out the list of energy consumers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_oil_consumption https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_consumption |

enirock: Export diversification is no longer a Nigerian problem. It's becoming a global problem and national concern for most countries. The emergence of China as a manufacturing power base as led to an unprecedented export capability that can not be rivaled elsewhere. Most countries now focus on export of primary products like energy, minerals or other natural resources. Few countries like Asian tigers are able to achieve some level of export success by simply building a value chain supply around China itself. What Africa can do now is to encourage import substitution and develop ways of building an alternative industrial supply chain to China. It may not be better than China but at least will give manufacturers the choice esp those wary of the authoritarian approach of Chinese govt. The above will be a collective approach of all African countries by building a mono economy as well as a single fiscal and industrial policy for the continent. But to expect Nigeria to go solo...I sincerely don't any pragmatic breakthrough. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Tpharell: Sir before I start let me say I am not insulting anyone. I think you are making a mistake There is NO NEED for LNG in Nigeria It is simply NOT NECESSARY I am willing to learn so if there is a power plant that runs on LNG that you know please share the information suspect that what Greenville is marketing as LNG is actually LPG To the best of my knowledge there is no REGASIFICATION PLANT in Nigeria Again if you know of any please share the information |

Tpharell: Sir I have read up Please if you want to quote me do not put your own comments inside the quote I am just asking simple questions 1. Which power plant uses uses LNG 2. Do you know of any regasification plant in Nigeria If you think about it It does not make sense. There is no need for LNG in Nigeria so I am not inclined to believe this without evidence LNG is not cheap . The obvious sensible option for using methane close to source is pipelines which we have so why should we use LNG Also you cannot use LNG without a regasification plant and finally HOW IS LNG transported WITHIN Nigeria It is not something you move in cylinders like cooking gas This is not a matter of reading what Greenville says at their website but JUST THINK ABOUT IT if you truly know what LNG is |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by Tpharell: 4:34pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
aribisala0:Greenville LNG produces LNG (along with the other associated hydrocarbon gases) which is trucked out to be utilized by power plants without any export. There are also few industries (i know two) around the country that use LNG ( trucked from Greenville) to run their plants. This is to bring your attention to the small upcoming local lng market aside the 100% export by NLNG Bonny |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 4:44pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:Can we just deal with facts please Name one power plant in Nigeria that uses LNG If you say it is "trucked" the obvous question is WHY? and WHERE Why use LNG which is quite expensive when it can be transported by pipeline The obvious answer would be that pipelines do not reach the plant so Tell us the plant in Nigeria that uses LNG Mind you I am not saying you are lying. I am just sceptical because it does not make business sense to use LNG in Nigeria. However it might be appropriate for businesses like Dangote cement or other cement manufactures but this is going to be such a tiny amount in the grand scheme of things . The obvious and sensible way to use methane commercially in Nigeria is by pipeline delivery NOT LNG |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by Tpharell: 4:55pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
aribisala0:Now you're beginning to sound like the other guy you were arguing with here earlier. Be open to learn about what you don't know rather than sticking to only what you know. From my writeup do I sound like i just readup on Greenville's website? Just so you know, lng is transported in cryogenic tanker trucks from port harcourt to power plants in kaduna and kano daily, on Nigerian roads Regasification is simply warming the gas to ambient temperature. |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 4:57pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:I am open. There is no need for pointless arguments Are you sure the power plant in Kaduna is operational? just provide the facts or let us finish this .OK?? I do not believe things without evidence Which power plant what is its capacity How much LNG daily That is what I am interested in If you do not know. No problem But I never believe without proof How much does a cryogenic truck cost ? How much gas can one truck deliver daily ? How many cryogenic trucks are there in this operation you are describing? Greenville is another Indian firm with the usual bullshit not backed up by reality on the ground |

Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 5:08pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:Regasification is not that SIMPLE It is very expensive It would cost at least $ 1 billion to deliver a regassification plant with a capacity of 1 billion cubic feet of gas daily not to mention staff recruitment training and safety measures You would need I billion cubic feet to produce 1000 MW/h of electricity |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by Tpharell: 5:46pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
aribisala0:You have clearly never heard about modular units. Not everything LNG is the size of NLNG Bonny. On greenvilles's website there are pictures of modular cryogenic storage tanks and regasification units which the company installs at any facility they intend to supply gas to. A simple google search on greenville lng as i earlier recommended would have answered the questions you asked, but you seem to think you know everything there is to know. Newspaper links on google will show you that greenville lng is fully operational supplying lng to the north. So you know there are at least 4 lng refueling stations btw ph and kano which serves those trucks. I see that you have potential but ignorantly destroying it with refusal to open the mind to build on the little knowledge |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 5:52pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:Actually I have heard of modular units . I just do not believe they are necessary or viable in Nigeria The issue is not theory but fact Can you provide factual evidence to back up your claims so we do not keep ging round in circles I am saying that there is no power plant I know in Nigeria using LNG You say there is Please educate me that is all I am asking Which power plant in Nigeria uses LNG as YOU CLAIMED What is its power output? I do not think these are unreasonable questions |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 6:06pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:This is really very interesting to me can you provide more information Just tell us about any ONE of these just one please location ? I am particularly keen to know 1. How does the LNG arrive at these locations 2. What is the capacity of these stations? |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by Tpharell: 6:10pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
aribisala0:So, because you don't know about it then it does not exist and cannot be. Anyway, i have pointed you to were you can find the answers you seek, but you seem to be unwilling to learn because of what you think you already know. At least, in my engagement with you today i have brought your attention to the existence of Greenville LNG in port harcourt, which you clearly never heard about until today, hence your ignorant back and forth. By the time you open your mind and realize that all what i have said here actually exists in Nigeria you will remember me! |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 6:16pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:Guy these is becoming pointles and nonsensical I said I do not know and asked you to educate me Clearly you are not able to do so It would appear we are in the same position Ignorance is not something I am ashamed of as a matter of fact I am proud of it because it implies the opportunity to know In that effort I have asked very specific questions Which clearly you have no answer for and have just told what appear to be half truths or borderline lies 1. You said there is a power plant in Kaduna which is powered by LNG delivered daily in Cryogenic trucks. You cannot substantiate this 2. You said there are LNG filling station between PH and Kaduna . You cannot tell us how the LNG gets there or the location of any single one To that extent this is just a waste of each other's time I am not interested in arguments Just answers to question to ease my ignorance You have no answers and are wasting my time |
Re: Nigeria Exports 17.9 Million MT Of LNG In 2021, Tops Africa’s Chart by aribisala0(m): 6:20pm On Jan 17, 2022 |
Tpharell:For your information There is a huge difference between Compressed Natural Gas and LNG There is no LNG station anywhere between PH and Kaduna as YOU claim My question to you is if such a station exists tell us its location and how LNG gets to that location very simple questions |
