This year I was determined to hatch out some turkey poults, even if it meant using an incubator.

Our turkey hens have been spotty with their nesting habits and have failed to hatch us out any poults especially for the white mother turkey while the black hen hatch once but failed to raise the poults which later died within days.

The ironic thing is that this year, we’ve decided to hatch out some of our own, and it seems like our mother turkeys became more diligent than ever in laying eggs. So we might have a lot of turkeys this year.

Earlier this year our turkeys started laying eggs all over the house and also at a particular spot. We kept picking the eggs all over the house while the eggs on the spot was left on the spot.

The white turkey is a lunatic and she lays everywhere while the black turkey is more "spotty".

On the 27th of Dec 2021, i discovered one of our mother hen (chicken) had started brooding.

Plan A, We took out all her eggs and replaced them with the stored turkey eggs because their incubation period is different. Chicken is 19/21 days while turkey is 28/30 days.

Plan B. While on the 28th i noticed the black turkey had gone brooding so i left same.

Will the chicken (hen) hatch the turkey eggs? results incoming...

Well, the mother hen was able to hatch the turkey eggs i placed underneath her.

This is a big plus as we have struggled lately to get out turkey poults.

Mother hen hatched the eggs exactly 28/29 days after going broody.

The Mother turkey is yet to hatch her share of the eggs and this leave me with a huge question.

Are there breeds of Turkey that are effective in hatching eggs or Local fowl are just more professional in getting the job done.

Anyway, i haven't given up on the mother turkey. I will give her 7 extra days.

We wait and i will relate progress of the poults as the chicken raise them.

Fingers cross.

Seedlings of hybrid Sweet orange are available for sale in large quantity @ Phoebe gardens

Sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) is a fruit that contains large amounts of vitamin C. People commonly eat its fruit and drink its juice.
Sweet orange contains large amounts of potassium, which might help prevent high blood pressure and stroke. The fruit and juice also contain large amounts of a chemical called citrate, which might help prevent kidney stones. Citrate tends to bind with calcium before it can form a stone.
People use sweet orange for asthma, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, the common cold, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support any of these uses.
