Watford have dismissed Italian tactician Claudio Ranieri just four months after he was brought in to replace Xisco as the team's head coach.

The 70-year-old coach was in charge for just 14 games, and managed to grab just one of the 24 points at stake in Watford's last eight Premier League games.

Watford were four points above the relegation zone when they appointed Ranieri, but they are now two points from safety, though they do have two games in hand.

Ranieri celebrated his first Watford win away at Goodison Park where the Hornets dismantled Everton 5-2, with his second victory coming three days later, when his team beat Manchester United 4-1 on home soil.
