The University of Lagos (UNILAG), located in Lagos State, Nigeria, is the premier university of technology and applied sciences in Nigeria. The university was established on September 19, 1962. On 14 January 2004, it was ranked by The Guardian newspaper as the best university in Nigeria , a position formerly held by one of its rival universities, the University of Ibadan .

The University of Lagos is a Nigerian public research university. The main campus is located in Yaba, some 8 kilometres (5 miles) from the center of Lagos and consists of academic and administrative blocks with its own library , a school of medicine, a school of engineering, a school of basic medical sciences, a school of nursing and many other departments. The University has other campuses dispersed around Lagos State which include the UNILAG Produce Road Campus(UNIBEN PRA), UNILAG Medical Complex Gbagada (UNIMED), Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife Department(IUMLI) that offer various health sciences programs, UNILAG International Campus (UNICAMPUS) at Badagry Expressway and Ajaokuta in Ogun State which offers courses in military science and other related courses.
