Wow...this journey is not for the faint hearted..congratulations to you and the family. Go and prosper pearlies100: Very Long Post Alert!!
I got admission December 2020 for Fall 2021 in University of New Brunswick but could not apply immediately because I was due to give birth in January 2021. I planned to submit my application in March but thanks to our immigration service, it took over 3 months before I could get passport for my baby despite paying through my nose for expedited processing. I ended up submitting our application on the 9th of June 2021 due to this delay. I was advised to put in mine while waiting for the passport but going without my children was not an option. We applied as a family, Myself, husband and 3 children. My husband applied for SOWP and visiting visa for my children because they're not up to school age.
Aside from the wahala of having to convince the VO and the fact that we are close to our mid 40s, two things stood against us. We had applied to visit Canada in 2019, but were denied, reason given was that we will not come back and false information in my husband's application, he didn't disclose his denial for US visa. We had applied for US visa a month earlier but the consular officer decided to give myself and my son but refused my husband. When we asked for the reason, she said she had none but was making a split decision. It was an oversight on my part because I filled our forms, I did mine first and just edited same form for my Husband and son. I forgot to change that part. The second issue was my husband had a health condition and no information on how it was handled by IRCC. He didn't want to apply with us because he was scared he would ruin our chances but it was a no no for me. How will I manage with 3 small boys while studying. We decided to use agents to help with our application but when I heard the price, I ran away quickly, not in this Buhari's economy.
I used same SoP I used to get my admission because I had no time to start afresh, I just edited it and in addition explained why I was doing a second masters (I have an MBA, same with my husband), how it would be beneficial in Nigeria and course not available in my country. I also addressed the issue of the denial in 2019 stating we never planned to break any visa rule and pointed them to our travel history to show that we have never overstayed in the countries we have visited. I also had to explain the false information in my husband's SoP stating it was an oversight. Reason given for going with my children is that they were too young to be left behind and I need my husband to take care of them. He runs his business and will take time off to support me in my career advancement. Reason given for him applying for work permit is that he wants work part time to gain experience that he would apply to his business back home and also support his family while in Canada.
Application was submitted 9th of June and the wait started, UNB gave us ultimatum of 13th of September to get our study permit or defer. We would not be allowed to even start online without it. I had no choice but to defer to September 2022. I wrote to IRCC but got generic responses. I got Nairobi email address from this forum and sent several mails. At some point, they stopped responding. I decided to fast and pray first week in February, a friend gave me Abuja email address, I sent a mail to them on the 7th and got a response on the 9th to go for medicals. I was so excited that finally, we have made progress. My husband and I did ours first. We had to disclose his condition and he was asked to go for further test, the tension of waiting was not easy especially on his part, mine was updated on the 19th while his was updated on the 22nd. We finally crossed that hurdle. Then our kids were asked to go for theirs a month later. Theirs was updated on the 23rd of March. I was asked to submit an updated application letter from the school and I also had to send a new passport because of the expiry date on the one I submitted. My hope was that within a month we should be done with this whole process. Then another wait started. I started writing to IRCC every other week from April but they didn't respond to any of my mails. I saw a format on nairaland 3 weeks ago to use to send email reminders but still no response. I decided to chill until the one year anniversary of our submission. At this point I was tensed because so many things were hanging, cost of ticket was rising, I needed to give enough notice to my boss to get my replacement before leaving. I entered another fasting and prayer last week, I had no other option. On the 10th of June, that's last Friday, someone posted the email address of different Visa Offices. I started sending mails to all of them. I also sent message to IRCC's twitter account and was about to send to London VO when I saw 7 donotreply emails. I first of all panicked and was afraid to open the mail. It was like a miracle, finally after one year of waiting, this came through. I also pray for those waiting patiently to get yours quickly in Jesus name, Amen!

This journey will teach u patience. Congrats to u nd the family. Go and prosper Spicy12345: Its PPR guys. Long Post alert
I have been a silent reader of Nairaland since the beginning of this year and everything that led to this point (obtaining our PPR), Nairaland contributed to it. We started this journey in 2021. I started off with some countries which eventually did not work out. My husband had applied to a couple of schools and we either received rejections or no responses at all. Fast forward to January, my sister was leaving for Canada at the time and came visiting so I requested that she helped apply to a school. We followed up and received admission to Centennial College for a Postgraduate Certificate program in Cybersecurity. It is also worthy to note that we applied to several schools in the UK, I think about 6 or 7 of them and got admission to all. Amidst all these, my husband insisted on Canada. We applied for my husband's Study visa, my Spousal Open Work Permit and a Visiting Visa for my 19 months daughter on the 1st of April, 2022. This happened when everywhere I turned to for assistance on how to proceed with these applications kept giving warning signs for my husband to apply alone. My husband insisted that we all apply together and back it up with prayers and I agreed. We gathered all our documents and applied with faith and the wait started. Sometimes, I would wake up in the middle of the night and say my prayers sometimes with tears. Sometimes, I and my husband would find it difficult to sleep at night. I would disturb my sister from time to time even during her busy schedule just to find out if there was anything to do to hasten the process. I am not a very patient person but my husband who has more patience among the both of us started to worry too on the 1st of June. We kept praying and hoping that God comes through. I felt our application could be better but believed God will use the documents we had submitted to speak for us. We noticed that his passport was due to expire in October and then we decided to apply for that as quickly as possible. On the 5th of June, my husband came back home worried which increased my worry as well but we kept telling each other that our application was more complex so it may take them a while to get to it. On the 7th of June at around 7:30am, my husband called my attention and, in his words, "it is already happening o" I ran to his phone and saw 3 emails with "do not reply", my heart skipped several beats and I remember saying to him, if we were rejected, we fire again. I went straight for the laptop but was not fast enough as I kept shaking. My husband grabbed it and signed in. At this point, I hissed and said aloud "Eligibility just started and its a ghost update", then he said hold on let me scroll down and there it was Original Passport Request. I screamed my lungs out. Our timeline: GCKey 1st time applicant Application: 1st of April, 2022 Upfront medicals: 26t of March and updated to pass on the 21st of April, 2022 Biometrics: 14th of April, 2022 PPR for Study, SOWP, and VV on the 8th of June.
I would say it has been God and I am putting this out there to encourage people most especially families who are too afraid to apply together. Do it, research, make your application as tight as possible, and back it up with prayers. I reached out to only one person on this thread who happened to be going to the same school as my husband, @centennialguy, thank you for your help, I appreciate it. I wish everyone the best and to all PPR hopefuls, your time is now.
It will end in praise

Abeg who used Jaiz bank to process form A recently here
No single update from this bank on my application for the past two weeks The secret is to disturb them. Make unpleasant comments on social media especially on Twitter about their service and how they are about to jeopardize your future ambition as there is a deadline for the payment: after unrelenting tries, they'll reach out to you either through phone call or by DM: they must answer. Amidst "no FX from the CBN," they are still disbursing to some few who can disturb or have a kind of influence. 1 Like 1 Share |

sodmad: Hello, if my study permit visa was refused, can I reapply with different letter of acceptance and Institution Yes, you can but with good explanation. I will like to ask some questions about your wish to change it if it hasn't expired due to either deferral, admission revocation or something else. 1. You want to reapply with a different LOA from the same institution and/or the same course? 2. Why do you want to change your initial LOA other than for the reason of its expiry? |

You have to provide a strong LOE to address this action because you have conveyed messages like: 1. You don't know what you are doing. Didn't you reason about he cost in your first application? 2. You don't even know the course you want to study. Why did you choose the first course? How come are you changing your course now? Apology for the above numbered hypotheses, the questions and comments numbered above are not for you to answer and not to insult you. They are just hypotheses to let you see how VO or other people may reason.Although there is no problem changing schools due to tuition fee difference, but it'll be reasonable if it had been in the same course as it will show you are actually determined on pursuing the same course and goal. |

Although there is no problem changing schools due to tuition fee difference, but it'll be reasonable if it had been in the same course as it will show you are actually determined on pursuing the same course and goal. Firstly don't think for others or the VO, if you actually know how VOs think, you would have been our first reference for the Study visa thing. Own it, these are your thoughts. We have had many people who changed course after first refusals because they need to save cost and at the same time be able to show a comfortable balance as a Proof of Fund. The applicant asked a honest question, don't ruin it. As for the applicant, its totally cool to change course or institution after refusal.. Just make sure you still maintain a good relationship between your previous education or work experience and the new course you are going for. Don't let anyone bambooze you. Once you have been refused, case closed on that application but mnd you the new VO will still refer to your previous application. So you have to be able to balance it While writing your LOE, make sure you explain explicitly why you changed the course. Give genuine reasons and explai it properly. After this, you are good Congrats in advance. |

To be honest different course and different school mehn.. if it was just different school but the same course or maybe both courses are in the same field of study then you’re good to go. If it’s a different field entirely then you can try though they might think you’re not serious and just looking for an easier option to japa with. But then it’s possible so you can give it a try just explain yourself well in the LOE and give concrete reasons for your change in course and institution.. All the best |

1) Yes it is very possible, you just have to give valid and convincing reasons in your SOP and you also have to prove strong home ties since you plan to leave with your immediate family. 2) Yes, this will definitely strengthen your application but read the school’s refund policy very well to be sure that you can get your money back if the visa doesn’t pull through. 3)Son - visitor’s visa and spouse - spousal open work permit (sowp) 4) Using cbn rate, it’s N1 = $334 CAD Use sites like oanda.com to check the rate if you are not paying with form A I suggest you await the input of others especially the gurus as this reflects my opinion alone. Goodluck on your application! |

1. Yes. It is possible. It is adviced to use the other spouse as a home tie but looking at the approval rate for family applications, you can give it a try. 2. You can pay your tuition and even get a GIC. Thats a choice you can make 3. Your son will need a visitors visa and your spouse a spousal open work permit ( sowp) 4. Theres no exact amount specified by ircc. What they have on their website is proof of funds for those applying via express entry. You can always use that as a guide. We have had a number of NL family members getting approvals for the entire family. Look at the documents they shared and tailor yours to suit your case. 5. Google is your friend my dear. It is well. phrecy: please i need a response
