Nigerians When Shall We Say Enough to These Politicians? by Laqisha(f): 4:33am On Jun 23, 2011
Fellow Nigerians, it is troubling to hear year after year of these so called 'politicians' sworn in to uphold our constitution only to turn round and plunder our coffers. One day in the courts the next day free to enjoy their ill gotten wealth, not to even mention those who play the game like Maradona eventually becoming the 'untouchables' of our society.

Is Nigeria such a fragile entity that can be broken up and shared to fit the pockets of corrupt politicians? Does it not vex us out of our senses to know that they get away with it time and time again? Are we so pitifully complacent that we can not say 'enough is enough' to those who are determined to take us down the path of destruction?

Bear me witness it will come, that day when that child without access to good health care, those poverty whipped youths who seem to have better chances in crime than at getting a job, parents frustrated by the realization that they can't feed, shelter or  educate their wards and the old  wishing to know just one day of good governance and the benefits therein  before resting those bodies battered in servitude to a nation immersed in filth, all rise in unison and demand what is theirs.

It was William James who said “the greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives”.  Therefore are we perpetually going to fold our arms voting-in and watching helplessly as these political rodents plague our beloved nation? Let's not wait until we lose our wits before we rise against this evil.

Our destiny is in our hands, heed the call!!

Thanks. Now you want me to sculpt my words, what I'm advocating lies along the lines of what has happened and is happening in the middle east and north africa.

Peoples Revolution? Naaa, Nigeria is too complicated for such and many Nigerians are too coward to embark on such mission.

Such revolutions are easily hijacked by opportunists who have no real interest in the people's welfare.

Ask the Egyptians and Tunisians.

You are right about our cowardly attitude but truth is a revolution  should have happened 10 years ago. Know  that a little sleep, a little slumber, a little  folding of the arms and calamity will befall us soon if we don't discard our fear and get our feet moving. Anyway  it's already happening, some few extremists are calling the shots and suddenly the government is paying them good attention, check that out. Now imagine this,  if only 1 million of us (out of 160 million) will agree to march up to the government, don't you think they'll speedily get the message that all the hanky panky governance is done? Come on, am I the only one who fears for our future or what? People, we need to rise because revolutions have shaped other countries and ours must be fixed too.

A lot of Nigerians are not ready for a change. Look at the last election, put rigging aside, millions of Nigerians actually voted for the status quo to remain.

I guess Nigerians are not yet pushed to the wall to want a change not to even consider a revolution. Besides, I dont know anyone that wants to die for Nigeria.

We had a chance at the last elections and we bungled it.

In another four years, we will have another chance

Seriously, are you playing some chance game with your future? This kind of attitude is what prompted this thread, suffering and smiling. Not me, Tufia!!
