New entrants and fast-growing web3 fintech company, Xend Finance has begun a continent-wide drive to grow adoption of DeFi amongst young Africans. The Crypto banking platform had a hackathon last year targeted at African developers to build relevant solutions on their layer-2 protocol, with the prize pool fund of $1,000,000

Now Xend Finance has taken their adoption drive to non-crypto savvy students and young professionals. They began their campus tour at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. There they got students to download the Xend Finance app and start using it.
The Xend Finance app allows people to save in dollars and earn up to 15% annual compounding interest on their savings. This product helps hedge against inflation, and this is relevant for a country like Nigeria with unstable currency and growing inflation rates.
