backbencher:

What happened in the past was government reduced the amount of money they spent on subsides OR they raised prices to a level where they were no longer paying subsides, and called it 'subsidy removal'

So long as the government sets the price of fuel, there is a subsidy present.

It has been done from time immemorial, which is why fuel does not cost 15 kobo, the cost price of fuel in 1981.

How much was the price of fuel when subsidy was removed in 2012? And how much was crude oil at the international market as of that time compare to now?
Were they not the ones that said there was/is nothing like subsidy?

you are actually the one spouting nonsense.
Which one are you suggesting they remove again after accepting that they actually removed it in the time of Ibe?
What unicorns defecating rainbow are they trying to abolish; the one they professed never existed in 2012?
When they protested against the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012, how much was crude oil at the international market and how much was fuel after the removal of subsidy then?
You think you are talking to your ilks that don't know how to think for themselves.
You clearly don't know how to think for yourself if you can regurgitate the exact same nonsense as before. The subsidy has never been abolished: the only thing that has ever changed is the price at which it kicks in, and the amount of subsidy the government is willing to pay. You obviously know this, which is why you are whining so much about the prospect of the whole thing finally being abolished once and for all, just as it should have been a decade ago.

You can keep on ranting and raving about what someone or other said or didn't say some time ago, but none of that is my business, as I am not a government spokesman or official, and what Mr Lagbaja and Miss Kinikan might or might not have said is irrelevant to the issue at hand: the idiotic, utterly wasteful, corruption-breeding fuel subsidy has got to go, as the FG is running out of foreigners willing to loan it money just to pay salaries, and more important things like education, healthcare and basic infrastructure continue to be neglected for the sake of a subsidy scheme that does little more than enrich smugglers and fraudsters. You can moan all you like about what "they said", but none of that has even an iota of relevance to the actual issue.

1. N65 in 2012, landing cost was N99. In jan 2012, price was raised to N140 then knocked down to N97
Crude oil was at.$108 avg. ( was as high as $120 atimes in 2012).

2.As at feb 2022, oil was at 90 dollars, after 7 years of being below 70 dollars and as low as 24.dollars in 2020. Landing cost now 282 naira.
Pms price N163.

Consumption level in 2012 30.million liters per day
Now, 90 million liters per day.

Subsidy costs gone up from 1.3 trillion in 2011 to 3 trillion this year ( may rise)
