President Muhammadu Buhari has finally announced that he will seek re-election in 2023, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reported.

President Buhari made the announcement on Tuesday during the Confers NNOM award on 3 Prominent Nigerians of the winner's of the 2022 and 2021 Nigeria National order of Merit Award at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

In a statement by the president on Tuesday in Abuja, he said,"

"My best is not yet done!," I have informed the NASS of my intentions of seeking a Third term in office and Northern elites and elders which "I have their go ahead and full backup from God in taking Nigeria to the promise Land, Which I have sworn by the Holy Koran, to put Nigeria far better than where it was in 2015 and to leave a long lasting legacy."

The president also made this known to Kebbi state Jigawa State Governor's Sen Atiku Bagudu, and Alhaji Muhammad in a close door meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said,

"I thank you all, for your efforts put together I was made to know that the Northern Forum are fully in line with me leading this country to the promise Land come 2023, my best is not yet done."
