Yoruba Ronu; A word is enough for the wise

PressMyButton:
It was an atmosphere of joy and celebration as the Baba Oja (market leader) of Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market, Mushin, High Chief Monday Lawrence Obijiogu (JP) celebrated his birthday. The occasion was graced by friends, well-wishers and business associates.
Born in Mushin to Igbo parents from Mgbidi in the present Imo State of Nigeria, Obijiogu was made Baba Oja of Ladipo Market by the present Iyaloja of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu- Ojo, who saw him a bridge-builder and peacemaker, able to resolve conflicts between the Igbo and Yoruba in the market. This was attributed to his deep knowledge and eloquence in speaking both languages, which has been yielding countless positive results.
Obijiogu affirmed that he has been a politician and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), combining politics with the administration of the market. He revealed that though the tasks are challenging, he has been able to forge ahead, with the help of his supportive administrative team.
When asked if he had contested for any political post in the past or aspiring to do so in 2023, he said he aspired to be a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2019, but was prevailed on by APC leaders to drop his ambition for the present member representing Mushin to complete his second tenure. As for the 2023 general elections, he said he would not contest.
On waste management and sanitation in the market, he said the management of the market takes hygiene seriously and ensures traders dispose of their waste weekly via the use of LAWMA and also clean the surrounding drainage pathways and gutters regularly.
Asked what he did that brought peace to the market as witnessed presently, he disclosed that as soon as he assumed office as the Baba Oja, he ensured all the criminals like cultists, fraudsters and other notorious elements were flushed from the market. He said some are even languishing in jail presently adding that the efforts brought peace, unity and dignity to Ladipo market.
Speaking on the areas he wanted the government’s intervention, he said the government should assist in the construction of three public toilets for the convenience of traders and customers. He also appealed to the state government to construct a pedestrian bridge at Toyota Bus Stop to address the incessant fatal accidents.
In the area of philanthropy, he said he had long established a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in honour of his father called Lawrence Obijiogu Foundation. Through the foundation, he said he had given scholarships to students and provided employment for many youths in Lagos and other parts of the country.
He added that he has also empowered youths with more than one hundred minibuses to make them gainfully employed.
[b]He applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his relentless efforts aimed at improving the lives of Lagosians through providing basic social amenities.[b]

These are the very same people who were up in arms against Iyaloja general whose appointment is an age-long tradition preceeding the migration of ibos into SW. They talked down and hurled invectives at Babalojas and Iyalojas in Lagos markets.
It came as a shock that same people opposed to the installation of Babalojas and Iyalojas would gladly accept the installation of one of their own without batting an eyelid. If that is not the height of hypocrisy, I wonder what is.
The fact that these people, in the spirit of greed, would disrespect their hosts and throw at them all manner of insults, disregarding the conducive and friendly environment, atmosphere to strive, economic opportunities and sense of belonging and identity the host affords them.
How do you maintain a social relationship with people who kick against a cultural heritage of their host but turn around to celebrate it when it comes in their favour.
Since Babaloja is alien to the ibos, so, why accept the title?.. One would expect them to reject it with the same vigour they used in kicking against it whenever a Yoruba man is about to be installed.

Will the Igbos ever allow a Yoruba man head any market in the East?

Ladipo market now has little to no Yoruba businesses there because of Igbo traders flooding the entire place. The mechanics and all that are Yorubas have been sent packing and yet Tinubu-Ojo thinks this move is the best?

Well I'm not surprised.. when someone is handpicked to a position instead of years of experience, they'll end up making a mess of the place.

Guilty Conscience?

Far from it sir…

It’s simply because the stupidity and gullibility of Tinubu urchins is highly predictable.

Why didn't she vacate her own seat as Iyaloja and appoint an Igbo woman to take her place as iyaloja?

I feel sorry for the Yoruba race.. we have shown to be naturally docile people. These guys will now push their ethnic domination agenda in Ladipo market and box out all Yoruba business owners there.. Oju gbogbo wa a ja gbeyin. iran golugo.

Of course they sent them packing under the pretext of expanding and opening warehouses in Ladipo market area.. we've seen countless videos where Yoruba traders in Ladipo were lamenting about Igbo arrogance and insult on them, claiming they can chase the Yorubas away and buy up the whole place. The mechanics and other artisans there pleaded with Yoruba leaders not to sit and watch them lose their means of livelihood on their father's land because of politics and political correctness.

The positions of Iyaloja and babaloja are NOT political and are not meant to be used for political purposes. Tinubu-Ojo goofed big time on this one and the royal stools in Yorubaland aren't happy with her.

I thought ibos also dominate computer village. A Yoruba man was appointed Babaloja of Computer Village over the ibo
traders. And you can't do more than kick at a stone. Soon, this ibo man would be thrown out for a Yoruba replacement. Your lousy behavior is very nauseating.

The Igbos first came into Ladipo market as tenants just like every other market but have now ganged up against the owners, taking over the whole place..

A revolution is coming cos we can't sit and watch Yorubaland fall to outsiders because of some people's political ambition.
