Many, who may have attended a wedding or two, probably believe that marriage vows must have come from the Bible, given the notion of bride and groom resembling the eternal bride and groom (the church and Jesus, respectively).

However, there is no mention of marriage vows within the pages of the Bible, as stated in an article from Billy Hallowell of Pure Flix.

First and formost please note, that the "For better for worse" marriage vows is not biblical ! Infact a certain Thomas Cranmer composed the marriage vows as we have come to know and recite it. All come from the Book of Common Prayer drawn up hundreds of years ago by Thomas Cranmer without any biblical backups.
Thomas Cranmer is a leader of the English Reformation.

MYTH: God forbids all divorce, or all divorce is sin unless it's for adultery.

TRUTH: Scripture shows that God gives permission for divorce in many situations.

Jesus specifically allowed divorce for infidelity

The Apostle Paul allowed divorce for abandonment

The third time the Bible commands divorce is in Ezra 9-10. This is where God commands the men to divorce their foreign wives due to spiritual betrayal.

Do not endure a marriage because you feel there is a vows that binds you perpetually to a spouse. With this thread and further research you can do, it is clear that the vow you make on the alter on your wedding day has no authorisations from God.

If you are physically, emotionally or sexually abused or your life is being threatened in marriage, if you can, then take a walk !!! Stop holding on and enduring a marriage because of a vow composed by man.

If you begin to devote time to research some of the practices we have now, you'll be amazed at how twisted things are. The origin of most these traditions are man made. Men screwed everything up.
