Men are not really interested in trying to join women in doing the things of women, not to talk of outdoing them on that.

This scenario get as e be abeg. And it does not really connect to the "What a man can do, a woman can do better" mantra you started your thread off with, so it is kind of hard to digest it as such.

Instead here you have a possible case of a woman struggling to keep up with demands of having to get the kids ready each morning and instead of asking for help from her spouse with that, sought to take over part of the half of her husband's regular chore so he can help her with hers.

Seems there major issue had to do with communication and a husband and wife team ought to make themselves flexible enough in order to see their team work no matter situation.
