does size really matter? Lagos state has money to build world class infrastructure that will cater for all despite the high population

And where will they accommodate all that population? In the air?

Population explosion

Urban rural migration

Wickedness of not granting Lagos Special Status with Special Allocation to Carter for massive infrastructural renovation of former abandoned FCT projects

O.P why not show this New Oshodi pics... Must we always portray ourselves in bad light

.

Even the picture doesn't looks like normal common day traffic in Lagos
Although the major problem is the ever growing impatience, everyone seems to be in so much hurry expectially this transporters.
One dispatch rider almost killed himself in the name of overtaking and managing space.
I came down and said to him in the presence of the crowd.
Oga if to se you spoil my car, forget all this your wound you go repair am for me
Rush rush na im cause the mad traffic.

This kind of post is uncalled for, the traffic is not as bad as the OP potrays it.

Things have changed tremendously in Lagos and if there is traffic in some areas, it is a work in progress.

Some roads are still under construction.

Let's be positive.

The moment I looked at the Pic, something reminded me that over 70% of people in that Pic are no longer living. Death Must come no matter how much we try to dismiss this thought.

IF THE BRITISH HAD STAYED IN NIGERIA TILL AROUND 1990/95. Na skyscrapers for full naija cities and towns. With oil as major economic advantage over HongKong and south Africa. The Truth is that Nigeria as a republic was still very much inexperienced in Developmental Politics and Economics as of 1960.

we have some cities that are more populous and organized than Lagos.

Tokyo (Population: 37,435,191)
Delhi (Population: 29,399,141)
Shanghai (Population: 26,317,104

They have far more landmass than lagos, plus they build more storey buildings as opposed to bungalows.

OP, why are you exposing your foolishness. That picture up there with Danfo was Lagos in the 90s and not today's lagos.

Go to Oshodi and see what former Governor Ambode did. Lagos became a lot better the moment Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu came in...so take down that trash U uploaded there...ode!

Lagos expanded rapidly by population but not by infrastructure. There’s no room for expansion except on the outskirts of town or we start ferrying people across and buses and public transport ply their own lane. Main intersections need expanding and some traffic lights timed appropriately. More express roads always free up the inner city roads people will have an alternative check out lekki alternative route a better road frees up traffic.

Gas stations are on major roads but because of queues it adds to the traffic but if you expand the road and isolate gas stations then even if they have a queue which in sane societies there is seldom one. Once we get rid of our penchant to make life difficult we will build the city of our dreams

FILEBE:

The truth is his agenda.

The main cause of traffic in Lagos are the Okadas , Danfos and Moliue. They don't adhere to traffic regulations for anything. . Go to Ojuelegba , Oshodi and every hub. U will see how these dnafos park on a two lane to create one lane. Ikotun is worse.

Disregard for laws is the major cause of hold up.

I know bad roads is among bur the main cause is what I said above

And private car owners do not flaunt traffic rules and regulations? Na their own worst pass with them saying "Do you know who I am?" Na everyone dey flaut traffic joo

Call it whatever you like, Lagos state isn't where its supposed to be today in terms of development

You are right that Lagos is nowhere it should be but that picture you posted was when Oshodi was a mess. Though it's better now but it still needs improvement.

I guess you posted it to spark reaction which may be good for conversations though.

Search Google, also someone posted pictures on the 2nd page of this thread.
What you posted is ancient history.
Cities are living things and they evolve.
Lagos is evolving.

[s]Because people in those days were closer to being real Africans. It's unfortunate that crucial information has been wiped off from our brains but to be African means to be orderly.

They operated with their African consciousness mostly still intact.

Important:
Note that there were few schools and MORE so called uneducated people in Lagos. Few churches, mosques and MORE so called African pagans "who don't know God". Few people who can speak English but MORE people speaking to ourselves in our native languages. That's why you had orderliness. The more we construct our lives with what our ancestors didn't create, the more we'll destroy ourselves. Things would really get very bad for us before it gets better.[/s]

100% wrong

If you say overpopulation you're wrong.
They're cities in China and other nations in the world more populated than Lagos as a whole but you don't see this..
This is as a result of poor planning..
