Just like goalkeepers have their strong sides that they usually dives to that’s how it is for a penalty takers.

Messi was scoring them for funs until he changed his style(his style was depending on the goalkeeper to dive first before shooting). If he revert back to that old style then his conversion rate will go high.

Ronaldo was scoring free kicks for fun in the past more with his knuckleball technique but lately he couldn’t replicate that form any more, yet he still uses the knuckleball technique much more than any other free kick techniques

So cut Messi some slack cos he will still miss some few more till he retires whether he changes his technique or not
