The one jamb is doing isn't enough for you.

Individual universities need to increase cut off marks just to ensure students are streamlined to what their capacity can take.

reduce student intake bawo?

only option 1 is possible

If their capacity is not enough for the students they admit, wouldn't it be wise to reduce it to what their capacity can take comfortably?

What can be done about this?

How can the government come into the picture?

You don't know many unis are even short staffed.Low lecturer to student ratio. This is why many departments lose accreditation.

It's not a good sight, but compared to my 100 and 200 level days in fut minna, this is better because everyone is seated atleast. Then every Isle is filled with people standing and even the podium very close to the board, the lecturer sometimes steps on people.

And hire more lecturers, obviously most public universities are short-staffed.
wrong too.
Many of them actually have enough staff.
Just that a few greedy lecturers colonise all the courses for selfish gain.

Just Ban the sale of any kind of textbook and introduce controls to discourage sorting(e.g third party review of marked scripts) then watch all those professors run away from teaching large classes

Many federal Universities are short staffed!
Low lecturer to student ratio.
but it is never so bad as to warrant this kind of crowd under one lecturer.

I teach in a federal institution so I shud know better.

Moreover, just ask those "short-staffed" departments to submit a request for additional staff, they will tell u they have enough.

Many of the students with fake prerequisite qualifications paid hundreds of thousands of naira for admission and this us the corrupt school system controlled by ASUU to make millions of naira annually for themselves.

Online classes are good but this is Nigeria.Poor network and high cost of data. Some students don't even have smartphones.
If we reduce the number of students we admit each year just for the sake of comfort, we would be Robin many of this opportunity.
I know many Nigerian's in online universities unfortunately, nono of these schools are Nigerian.
Online schools are always cheaper. Less school fees, less money on transport and hostelsee so the student would have enough to spend on data

1.They can build more lecture theaters with a larger capacity.
2.They can reduce student intake.[/quote]
3. They can engage more lecturers to teach the course and reduce the course load to a lecturer.

Maybe GES 101/201 or a combined class for 100l or 200l students. It's not a big deal.

The school can divide the class into batches whereby some students with batch number 1-40 can have their lectures for 1 hour, leave, then students with batch nos 41-71 will come in, and so on until everyone is done. They can also spread the class across the week.

Alternatively, less students should be admitted per session to avoid this type of overcrowding. But then, schools are only after money
