Yes, this is because the females easily and quickly get expose to relationship and sex than the male. A girl of 16,17 may easily and quickly be exposed to sex than a boy of 16,17.

don't know about the south, but here in the far north, I can clearly say that 99.9% of unmarried girls are virgins but for the guys, maybe 80% maybe correct
