Without doubts, one of the subjects students really find challenging in our schools (from basic to grad schools) is Mathematics. Even though Mathematics is one of the core subjects in our basic and high schools, many students still fail it. For example, about 45 percent of the candidates who sat for the 2021 WASSCE failed Mathematics and about 70 percent in 2020. This is also true for other terminal examinations. Very disheartening!

One of the reasons is the way some mathematics topics are being taught in our schools. Another reason is the use of complex terms to explain the concepts. Also, there are inadequate mathematics resources in our schools and the available ones are handled by incompetent mathematics teachers. Some schools have no mathematics teachers at all and thus rely on other subject teachers to teach this "core" subject. Haven't you seen a school where a Yoruba teacher or a teacher with an art and humanities background is being compelled to teach mathematics? This is so unfortunate!

So, fellow Nairalanders, while surfing the internet recently, I came across some resources online with hundreds of math videos that students (even those with zero math background) can use to learn this tough subject from scratch with ease. I can vouch that our brothers and sisters (or children) preparing for terminal exams such as WAEC, NECO, JAMB, NABTEB, and even first-year students would find them useful.

Below excerpt is the transcript of what the instructor said at the beginning of the videos:

A real student asked that? How will they pass their examinations in University and beyond? I normally don't give answers to assignments on the form, because people need to think, too. How will they approach real life mathematical dilemmas/modeling if they want to be spoon-fed the answers?
