Between this two compact phones (4a & S10e), which should I go for?

S10e is the better device. Currently using one and the phone is a beast. The only edge the pixel has over it is the update to 13 which s10e won't get. S10e is the second best compact right now after zenfone 8.

In my opinion;
Performance- Samsung
Software updates for years to come- pixel,the Samsung has received its last major update
Camera-pixel
Aesthetic-Samsung,the pixel is very ugly phone with a plastic build bigger bezel and overall more dated design (I don’t know why pixel hasn’t fired their design teams because they keep on making ugly phones which turns people like me off because apart from performance and as much as I like pixels,I want a good looking phone)

rubbish phones, old LG v40 is far better

I have pixel 3xl and galaxy note 9. Both phones were launched in 2018. The pixel has 4gb Ram while the galaxy has 6gb ram. But in overall rating, I will choose the pixel 3xl, it is faster than the galaxy note 9

But the pixel is so smart in management of apps that its battery can outlast that of galaxy.

pixel is a beast only that it is too fragile. If it falls once, the screen will crack. If you can buy a good pouch like otterbox defender, then you are good.

It's been almost a month now since I got the Pixel 4a. I ain't disappointed for purchasing such a lovely phone.
