Russia is gaining momentum in the south East but is stagnant north of Kiev which is bad news for the Ukrainians as heavy bombings from the air would be used to soften the resistance on the ground in order to allow the complete take over of the capital.

The peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have not produced even a small window of hope for any solution. The only thing that was agreed upon was that civilians should be able to leave their home safely. In other words: Russia continues its invasion.

The Russians made a dramatic advance towards their goal to besiege Kiev. While they are a bit stagnant in the north they managed to gain much territory near Sumy East of Kiev and gain control over the M6 highway west of the capital. Within 24-48 hours Kiev would be completely surrounded just like Mariupol is now. Then civilians would either be allowed to leave during a ceasefire through a humanitarian corridor or suffer a great blitz from the air.

According to the UN so far 1.3 million Ukrainians mostly women and children have fled out of Ukraine to the neighboring countries from the west.

The most followed after flight in the world right now: an Ilyushin 96, from the Presidential Squadron in Moscow, is now making its way from St. Petersburg to Washington on a bypass route to the closed skies of Europe. It’s probably the plane that will take the Russian diplomats back home.

Point of correction.
It was the Russian army that said and made that corridor open for the civilians not the Ukrainian govt.
Those two cities have been taken by Russia forces

Putin in a long public appearance came up with a warning: “a country that will participate in enforcing a flight ban over Ukraine - is seen as an enemy partner against Russia.”
In addition Putin said "In case of extreme aggression within Russia, a military regime will be declared. We have not reached this situation and hope we will not."
