Africa my Africa
Plagued by bad leadership at all levels
Hunted by inadequate infrastructure
Driven to the fringes of extinction by hunger, poverty, malnutrition and disease
Blessed with the most natural resources yet cursed by the atrocities of its bad leaders
A land where the cry of its inhabitants wets the ground daily
A place that consumes its young
where the youth groan under the tyranny of the old
Where the young never grow to take their place as leaders
A place where tomorrow is not assured
Africa, a land with so much yet yielding little for its poor
I dream of the day Africa will take her place in the world.

Rival Libyan PM sworn in as tensions mount

A rival government in Libya has been sworn in as a showdown with the existing administration seems set to intensify.

Fathi Bashaga took the oath of office as prime minister in the eastern city of Tobruk, where Libya's parliament elected him last month.

Incumbent Prime Minister Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah has said that he will not step down.

A UN-backed roadmap to try to end the rift between rival factions in Libya has been in doubt since scheduled elections failed to go ahead in December.
