Alema of Warri Kingdom, Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, is a quintessential Nigerian of many parts, all of which coalesce around his unflinching love for humanity and the undying quest to add value to all who encounter him without fanfare.

Chief Uduaghan is a politician, businessman, philanthropist, and family man extraordinaire, who by choice keeps a low profile despite making immense contributions in all of these roles.

Chief Uduaghan served as a Special Adviser under the administration of Governor James Onanefe Ibori in Delta state, having joined partisan politics as a member of the defunct Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) and later becoming a foundation member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State. Chief Uduaghan has been a major influence in the making of several political dynasties in the delta state and the greater Niger delta region.

Despite having a business empire that spans several jurisdictions including Nigeria, Ghana, the United Kingdom, Asia, and the United States of America, Chief Uduaghan is a cheerful man always wearing a smile and ever willing to be of service.

It is this disposition that has guided his business to phenomenal growth in less than 3decades, while he continues his personal development having acquired degrees in Engineering and Law and he is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree in Law. He equally encourages and supports others to equally pursue personal and professional growth, as his companies employ over 200 staff directly, with engineers, lawyers, and several other professionals in their ranks, many of who were sponsored by Chief Uduaghan himself.

The Alema of Warri kingdom, a very high-ranking chief and custodian of tradition, lives his life by the biblical principle of giving with the right hand and not letting the left hand know about it.

How else would one describe a man, who despite not having lived for 300years, has managed to among other things, provide significant grants for research in diverse fields in different universities, instituted scholarships for indigent students, and provided loans for enterprising market women?

All of these chief Uduaghan has done without any ceremonies as is the norm among the Nigerian elite, who tend to spend more than they give to the poor publicizing their giving.

No question philanthropy is about the impact and not publicity for publicity's sake, and the Alema of Warri is a clear example of this.

We need more of his kind who are committed to giving and supporting others to grow if we must wean our country off the excessive dependence on government for virtually every facet of human existence which robs the government of the resources and focus to provide public goods and services that facilitate wealth creation.

Our collective prosperity lies in building human capacity, and the Alema of Warri has distinguished himself as a world-class provider of engineering services, while also building a local capacity pool.
