So on Thursday 3rd of march 2022, I came down from the Keke I had entered and realized my phone was missing, I quickly rushed back to the Keke to search but couldn't find my phon. I asked the driver who told me he didn't see it either and other passengers had left.

So another Keke driver who was there assisted me with his phone to call my line, it rang without response @ first I taught I forgot it where I was coming from until I got home and called but was told it wasn't there then I realized I was either pick pocketed or the phone fell off from my pocket in the Keke.

I felt reluctant to call my bank to block my account because I felt my sim was secured because I had the sim and phone lock activated. So to me there's no how my account can be accessed using my sim because of the sim lock but I was wrong.

I was intending to go retrieve my line on Monday but on Sunday I decided to access my email using another phone only to find out my account has been cleared without leaving a single dime.

I called Access bank customer service who confirmed my fears.....I asked them if I can have details of the account the monies were transferred to they told me it's not traceable as the transaction was a cardless withdrawal using POS....I don't understand how possible it is for the transaction not to be traceable, how cardless transaction can be initiated without pin or otp,is it possible for sim lock to be bypassed......I am still confused.

Please what could have happened in this case and how can I go about it?

thanks for your contribution....I encrypted the phone, messages and even sim that was why I was reluctant that nothing can be done with it but I was so shocked when I opened my mail from another phone yesterday..... another question is can cardless withdrawal using POS be done without otp?if no, how then was my message accessed to get the otp?and if the sim was removed from the phone it would require sim pin when inputed in another phone.......Infact I can't think straight now

I think that Access Bank security is so porous. I had a similar experience when I lost my wallet last November. I had GTB, Firstbank and Access Bank atm cards in the wallet, I tried to block the cards on my mobile apps but my Access Bank account was eventually hacked. I was told that my card was used to buy books online. I wonder why a fraudster will want to read books but I guess that was the only way he could bypass Access Bank security. In my opinion, POS & mobile code capabilities should be reduced as a matter of urgency. Alot of fraudulent transactions are going on there, and it looks so easy with the way it's rampant.

Sorry for your loss, but I am afraid the money is gone.

Main reason why I am always on tight jeans...with my wallet and phone well tucked inside my front pockets...I feel them after every step.

My advice to everyone who cares to take it, have two bank accounts...put the chunk of your money in an account without any form of civilisation attached to it; no Internet banking, alert, otp, bank card, etc Just cheque books or bank teller.

Then at the other account In the same bank, you keep the money for your basic needs...money you can afford to lose.

So monthly, walk into the bank, ask for the account statement of your major account, make a small withdrawal, and deposit it into your small account (with card and all).

Now this can be stressful, but it prevents premium regret and tears...not only that, it helps you save better, because when you think about the long queues in Naija banks, you will change your mind about spending on frivolities that consume most of our earnings.

Me wey use my hand transfer 50k to my uncle, through my GTB app since Feb 3rd, since then, the money is still hanging in no Man's land.

I can't believe one of my accounts was just hacked just now for the first time ever and 300k was taken out of my sterling account about 30 mins ago and it was called web purchase interswitchLANG .... this is unbelievable...I hv never in my life given anyone my atm card and I hv never used a bank app and I have never purchased online ..... thats the only account that has an ATM cos I use it for grocery shopping and buying fuel or credit ....I'm confused

What was your pass code for the sim? Hope its not generic like 1111, 7777 etc. Also, maybe you left transaction detail on your phone.

The thing is, your sim might have nothing to do with this! It might be a coincidence that your phone was stolen the day your account was wiped!
From my experience, your Access Bank Account can be wiped by a fraudster who got your banking details from Access Bank sever or whatever….
Remember the guy that hack Access Bank customers info? that was later arrested by the EFCC? Yes that guy.
There are so many of his type here in Naija. The ones that are doing it on low key, I mean hacking customers information from the sever, they won’t and will never come out to expose themselves like the one that was arrested by the EFCC.
I don’t like Access Bank at all because of this kind of stories and what I experienced.

Last year , November/October on Friday around 1pm I lost my Zenith Bank card and I didn’t go to the bank to block it because it was weekend and I know how crowded Banking hall are always on Fridays, I just trust Zenith Bank to notify me on any kind of suspicious Transactions.
For the weekend I decided to use babe’s Access Bank card…on Saturday Afternoon the card was in my storage and Babe was receiving alerts…
They first tried 5k it went through, then 10k, it went through, then 20k, it went through babe started calling suspecting that wouldn’t run such transactions with her card.
She called and I told her it’s not me, that I’m home.
She asked if I lost the card. I said NO, the card is with me.
Now, if I had lost the card I would’ve thought that the person that picked it was the one responsible for the transactions…
So, it might not be from your SIM card, they can Access your account information from somewhere and use it to wipe your account…
My Advice! Move on , and leave Access bank, they always give Access to… you gerrit if you don’t gerrit forget about it..

Whats going on with access bank, most people complaining here about account hack or theft is usually related to access bank.

I suspect their system is porus and they have decided to do nothing about it since they claim consumer is liable .

If CBN insists that thorough investigation must be carried out unless a fine of 350k will be imposed for every 10k fraud, you will see the way they will disclose the real identity of the scammers or properly fix their network
