You are right. It is difficult to have a US led free world without the baggage foisted on it by the war mongering few (political establishment, and their military industrial complex) who have made it their business to keep the world on a leash for their profits, amusement and raw pleasure.

But there has been a significant shift brought about by the democratic opportunity found inherent in the US system of government. Even though that window gets undermined using the mainstream media, big businesses and their very powerful security apparatus that usually try to tele-guide their electioneering system. Though troubled, the US is still the most promising leader when compared to the alternatives: A Communist China or An Authoritarian Russia, who come with even more worrisome baggages.

Plus US mostly takes the lead in development initiatives necessary for charting a progressive future. The Russians do their bit but are not as well rounded across most sectors. The Chinese just do copy and paste mostly. EU follows the US mostly.

Make no mistake, all nations have their oligarchs who like to monopolize political power for their sole benefits. But the US is a bit more accountable based on the power vested in the people. The founding fathers of the US enshrined some fundamental powers in the electorate, one of which is the right to bear arms. This helps to keep the government consistently in check discouraging it from outright tyranny for fear of a civil / People’s war.

If you follow the US news, you would readily notice the mention of deep divisions and an impending civil war between the democrats who mostly represent the establishment and the republican voters. This is because the country is divided along very parallel ideological lines. The mainstream media villain “Donald Trump” significantly boosted this ideological difference that was initially heightened during the Obama presidency, which eventually led to Trump’s emergence as president, and further divided the people significantly.

As a consequence, Trump remains the leader of the Republican Party to date, a role that most republican leaders and politicians (who mostly are a part of the establishment) detest him for, but reluctantly accept because of the crowd of voters who are fully with him (Trump). Here in lies the opportunity for reigning in the excess overreach of the US government. Something Trump seemed to have opened the eyes of the US citizens and electorates to fully.

I am not saying this is the magic wand that would cause a dramatic change or last for a long time, but it does offer some glimmer of hope at a paradigm shift from a war mongering US to a calmer super power US.
