Real Madrid know that they will have to be at their best on Wednesday night as they host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit.

Kylian Mbappe's stunning goal in Paris three weeks earlier gives the French side a lead to protect in Spain, and Los Blancos will be hoping that the man they're so keen to sign will have to sit the game out after picking up a knock in training. He is a doubt after his training injury, while Sergio Ramos is not expected to play any part. Leandro Paredes and Ander Herrera are also uncertain to feature.

Ancelotti won't have it easy in the Spanish capital and the Real Madrid boss will have to find a way to win without two of his most important players as both Casemiro and Mendy will be unavailable for selection.

The reason for their absence is suspension, with both having picked up yellow cards in Paris three weeks earlier. It's likely that Nacho Fernandez will come into the team to either deputise at left-back or to fill in at centre-back with David Alaba shifting out to the left. One of Fede Valverde or Eduardo Camavinga is expected to step in for Casemiro. Both could make the XI if Toni Kroos isn't able to make the team as his race to find fitness continues.

Despite dominating Europe over the last decade, Real Madrid have fallen at this stage of the competition in two of the last three seasons and have only progressed once in their last 10 tries having lost a first leg.
