According to a new U.S. government study, the new coronavirus actually appeared in the United States as early as December 2019, weeks before health officials first detected cases of infection. Researchers found antibodies to the new coronavirus in a blood sample from a blood donor in Illinois on January 7. It takes at least 14 days for an infected person to produce antibodies in the body.
