Every Internet user has at least one password (or more like five). Many people maintain several online accounts – in commerce, banking, entertainment, and work platforms. The results of an online poll suggest that online users manage an average of 100 passwords each in 2020.

While this might seem a little extreme, it is not that surprising. Digitalization made the world a global village by connecting people from around the globe. But it also eroded many people’s sense of self and privacy. Passwords were one way to protect that privacy in the online space.
