Speaking about the recent attack on her in the media, she explained that it was because of her stepping on some powerful toes in the course of her reform agenda in the oil industry.

On the oil exploration in the Northern part of the country, the former petroleum minister told the senators that a team of experts under the leadership of Prof. Ajekeye, a professional geologist, was working hard on the project and that in the next 24 months Nigeria would hit oil in the Chad.

I thought it has always been known to be there, but just not commercially viable to extract it. . . ? In other words, too much investment required, and not enough oil to justify the investment.

Remember speaking wt two different geologists on d matter some years back. D first Is an old prof dt is among d pioneer explorers, his opinion is dt the oil bearing share is a young type. Meaning that d oil is immature and may take some millions of years more to get it.

The second is of the opinion that since d Chadians and Sudannese r exploiting from same basin as ours, its just right to accept that the oil is mature on our side too.

The bottom line is that regional politics is so mixed up wt facts of the matter that its difficult to know what to believe.

The country has sunk billions of naira in the despirate quest for oil in the north (chad basin) even when they knew that it is a wasteful venture. This wild goose chase started from the corrupt millitary regimes of leaders of northern extraction jurt to make sure the north have oil to equate the south.
