Today we visited the site of the ongoing construction of 6.4km Utu Ikot Ekpo, Etim Ekpo - Mkpok Eto, Ika Road. Last year, when we went there, the swampy and muddy environment never gave people reasons to believe that the road would ever be completed within the lifespan of Governor Udom Emmanuel's administration. The asphalting of the road which has reached nearly half of the road, has drawn excitement from several locals who would not believe that their rural forgotten communities could become urbanised in their lifetime. Some of the elders in the communities, Pa Sunday Alexander Umoh and Elder Etim Akpan Ekpo expressed happiness over the fact that God used Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to carry out the road construction in the community. At the current pace the work is going, it is obvious that this road will be completed next month. The entire length of the road has side drains and it is at the stone base level, while a larger part of it has already been paved with asphalt. "The Governor has visited our community making a once dark zone now a bright zone. I pray God to bless him and continue to give him the grace to carry out more projects in the State," Pa Akpan Ekpo exclaimed. The road, links up with the ongoing 15.13km Ikot Esu, Ikot Otomo, Azumini Road that links Ika with Abia State. It has a spur to Nkwot also in Etim Ekpo local government area. © Essien Ndueso March,2022 1 Like

I can tell you that it is politically motivated. The truth is, most of these are debts and agreements he wasn't party to, and comparing the state allocation now and when those agreements were signed, you will see the difference. He hasn't owed them, they are all backlog debts, and you can't expect him to pay all. The money isn't even there. The first front line charge for the government is over 3bn and all of that. paltielx: |
