The truth is that In a military sense.. Putin can keep pouring money and men into Ukraine to hold onto his gainsnand capture the major cites and declare victory but it’s a losing effort...

Evaluations of military balance of power remind me of the United States occupation of South Vietnam in 1965...The U.S. Army occupied Vietnam largely without organized resistance...It was only after USA had 250,000 men in Vietnam as part of Operation Rolling Thunder in 1965 that they started running into serious resistance...And it escalated for 4 years coming to a climax during the Tet Offensive in 1969...

And all the major fighting happened AFTER not before the US had occupied all of South Vietnam in 1965...
Nothing Russia does is going to convince the Ukrainians...

In Ukraine today there is serious resistance from the beginning..together with millions of refugees...
There is going to be a nasty and prolonged guerilla war rather like Afghanistan or Vietnam... The Russian economy will become a dependent rump state of China.. isolated from the rest of the World as during the height of the Cold War...

Except there’s no ideological rationale for all this within Russia this time...Putin has fatally miscalculated in launching this operation..now the consequences for Russia are only starting...

He can occupy cities and make Ukraine suffer and force millions of refugees into permanent exile but he cannot really conquer... He has no exit strategy...It’s going to cost more money and more economic suffering than Russia can afford...watch and see how it plays out..
