ASUU is a pressure group.

Pressure groups achieve their aims through demonstrations and strikes.

ASUU is a pressure group & trade union made up of intellectuals.

98% of ASUU's demands have been know since 2013 & the present administration even used it to campaign against the previous administration...

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/143102-apc-blasts-fg-over-lingering-ASUU-strike.html

So why is the present administration failing to deliver what it insulted the other of not doing right?

One model would be to make government tertiary institutions self sustaining by letting them charge the rates of school fees just as private & foreign ones are doing...

Is the government ready for that?

Another way is for government to cut down unnecessary expenses... how can a governor who spends a maximum of 8 years in power go home with hundreds of millions of naira in gratuity while some one who has worked for close to 40 years goes home with less than 20m?

A Union similar to drug cartels, bandits, militants and terrorists in academic robe. They totally Lack ingenuity in solving their rifts with government. How then do you expect to produce meaningful graduates?

If the government was responsive, there won't be need for strikes. The government obviously only responds to extreme labour actions.

For over 8 months, ASUU had been warning about the government's non-compliance with agreements reached, but the government did nothing.

So?

Should the tertiary education system in nigeria die because those in government have the means to send thier children to foreign lands for quality education or to private universities in nigeria?

Because the government is not doing what is required in the education sector... that is what the lecturers are clamouring for...

Besides, the government owns the institutions, why doesn't it want to fund it or grant financial autonomy?

At the end of the day, the buck stops on the government's table...

When did IPPIS start & When was the FG/ASUU agreement signed?

All over the world, lecturers go on sabbatical, serve as adjunct lecturers etc... so why should Nigeria's own be different?

If bayero cannot account for 7bn annual subvention (a doubtful figure), then why hasn't the FG prosecuted its officials?
