Spent the last 2 hours publishing a tool i created some time back for my personal use.
Its a site online checker. Checks if a site HTTP and FTP protocols are online.
Comes in handy in situations where a site like nairaland.com isnt opening on your browser and you have to check whether its really nairaland.com that is down or its your crappy connection.

I have just created it in the form of a site and a browser plugin for Firefox and Internet explorer so you can just run the search directly from your browser.
I have put it on the Mozilla Addons site and its under review

One quick issue. I used it right now, and believe you - a fooolish boy i will not be,
but i just rushed into the place and typed http://www..com

And of course it did not work. Either you do a javascript to strip off the extras,
or just consider it in your php script or whatever that there are many more even more
fooolish boys like myself who cannot distinguish between cannot either tell that
http://www..com is not a domain, and some not so fooolish ones 'like dhtml'
that did not read the instructions, and just rushed to type the domain into it.


Now i noticed that on sites that search for domains e.g www.who.is
despite the fact that they further instructed by placing: Ex. name.com, sample.ca, example.co.uk, myname.mx
As examples of domain, will still understand that http://www..com 'is a domain' - so that even those
that have eyes and cannot read can still search for domains with ease.

And that is my contribution to the plugin.

But, i must say that it is a very nice plugin to have.
