FA Plans To Sell FA Cup Semi-final Tickets To Chelsea Fans by Paschijioke(m): 11:25pm On Mar 21, 2022
The Football Association is working with the government to ensure that Chelsea fans can attend in the FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace next month.

There have been serious question marks over whether Chelsea supporters will be able to attend Wembley Stadium on the weekend of April 16, with the club currently banned from selling tickets due to sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich.

They were only able to bring about 500 fans to the Riverside Stadium for their quarter-final clash with Middlesbrough from the 4,500 allotted tickets, which had been sold before the ban.

Despite their depletion of followers, Chelsea won 2-0 to secure their place in the next round, although under the current terms of their special operating licence they will not be able to sell any tickets, or have any fans available, foror the semi-finals - final

But the FA wants government subsidies and plans to sell tickets to Chelsea fans, who are still expected at Wembley

A statement on Monday night read: "We hope to have a full house for both Emirates FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.

"This includes tickets for Chelsea fans against Crystal Palace and we are working with the government to develop ways to achieve this, while respecting the sanctions currently in place against Chelsea."

One proposal to circumvent sanctions is to use all proceeds from Chelsea ticket sales to help the Ukrainian people.

Conservative MP Julian Knight, the chairman of the committee of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport department, said: "The prospect of us facing Chelsea against Palace's FA Cup semi-final with a half full Wembley is absurd"

"Chelsea is more than just its owner, it's a living organism that is very important to fans and the community.

"It is understandable that last week's game against Middlesbrough was played on short notice without Chelsea fans, but with so much notice there is no reason for the FA to exclude them

"The FA must be allowed to sell tickets to Chelsea fans as long as all the money goes to the Ukrainian people.
