Zoning of the presidency between the north and the south was necessitated by the skewed and lopsided political structure of Nigeria created by north through its military dictators.
The political structure favours only the northern region.




Of course, if the PDP doesn't consider the fact that zoning entails that a southerner shall succeed President Buhari, hence the necessity to cede presidential ticket of the PDP to a southerner, PDP shall lose if it fields a northern Nigerian to succeed President Buhari. Truth PDP cannot win with southern candidate. That's a fact they know so everybody is probably going the APC way. Because whoever APC bring from north or south would win, pdp can only win with a popular northern candidate like Atiku. No other candidates in APC can defeat Atiku in a Nigerian general election except Buhari and Buhari alone, now that Buhari is not in the ballot with Atiku's national popularity and influence Tinubu is no match for him, Atiku has influence across Northern Nigeria and has more influence in Niger Delta and South east far more than Tinubu whose influence is limited to south west alone. and 2019 polls already gave Atiku an edge over every other aspirant because he is already on the ballot since 2019. Is only the Turaki Adamawa that can secure victory for pdp over any APC candidate but since our SS governors are in this position of southern candidate then I see APC remaining in power whether the candidate will be from North or South. It's good to support any candidate of choice but tinubu won't sell even among us yorubas. Not even within the south west, except tinubu sponsored governors and traditional rulers whom Tinubu had bribed with money, he won't get the votes of the majority because even those his loyalists have just one vote each.

Let's be fair to ourselves, can Tinubu get up to 1% of the SS votes? What of SE? He's not known there. Had the apc won edo, one would have said he'd get a reasonable number of votes there. He had even made things worse by going there to discourage the edo people from voting obaseki and broadcasting on a TV to condemn obaseki when he's not even from the state or one of the aspirants.

Tinubu is only popular amongst a few elites in the north and I doubt if they truly like him. Na eye service all of them dey do.

If i were close to him, I'd have begged him not to contest because he would lose the few respect he had amongst his loyalists. Buhari will disappoint him. Can't you see the way their convention is going? Buhari is the one practically hand picking candidates and doing the zoning all alone. It's obvious odds will be against tinubu. He should have remained a kingmaker jeejelly.

In my humble opinion, Osinbajo would garner more votes than any of the candidates from the apc. He's more acceptable among all the tribes and religious groups in Nigeria. You can imagine northern Muslims drumming support for him, asking him to run. They trust him more than anyone else.

Be that as it may, the apc won't still field Osinbajo. Whoever they pick won't win because there will be a division in the party and apc wouid end up collapsing after Buhari's tenure....it's even collapsing already.
