Yeah i keep hearing that abt Scala. However try developing a J2EE app with it or even try integrating it with an existing J2EE app and u'll realize that the Scala guys did a lot more than what they tell us on twitter.

On d contrary i wasn't against it. I only felt a bit disappointed after trying it out. Yeah as a standalone app it's cool and ok but it sucks when integrating it with J2EE. It's features it quite awesome theoretically and I really 1ted Java to implement those features since the makers of Java 5 created Scala.

Actually I had a program i was trying to experiment the integration of an existing J2EE I developed with Scala considering that Scala is a JVM language. The J2EE app has a Struts-Spring-J2EE architecture. So I was trying 2 c where Scala would fit in (since it works with Spring and J2EE). So i chose the service layer to implement the Scala modules and heck it was a mess. However like I said using Scala end to end without Java in this architecture was a breeze and fine.

Switch statements can now use strings cool

Awesome ryt?

I don't really think that feature is as good as it appears but first lets get some things right. Is the string used in the switch statements compared using == or the String.equals() ? The former shows that any Object may be used, not just Strings but if the latter is the case, is the comparison case-sensitive? Cases can cause confusion especially when processing a user-input (maybe web, swing GUI, etc). You may expect the user to enter "my_choice" but somehow, the user enters "My_choice". Also trailing spaces may cause problems too (though that can be avoided by calling String.trim() on the input before processing it. Do you spot the problem there? I've not upgraded to Java 7 because of ongoing projects. I think a little more clarification will help us all.
