I saw a thread here last year April when Court of appeal stop VIO from asking Private cars for road worthiness but the rivers state police and task force are above the law.

Road worthiness is one of the the serious issue River State private car owners are facing with police joined with River State revenue task force.

The task force joined with police are now forcing people to do road worthiness which is #6000. Even if you tell them that road worthiness is not for Private cars, they will collect your particulars and your driver's license with the help of police.

Currently we don't know if they will add hacken permit for private car owners in river state.

Imagine road worthiness alone is 6000.

I know it is a pain, but roadworthiness is very very necessary.

The thing is, a lot of accidents in this country are caused by badly maintained cars.

Best to have standards, even if it makes us uncomfortable.

haha, why on earth will you put a car on the road without ROAD WORTHINESS?

in a saner climate its compulsory, that's part of your LICENSE & REGISTRATION.

Why shouldn't you have it?

Sometimes you have to do things just to be clean and avoid unnecessary problems for yourself.

The truth is road worthiness is only required for commercial vehicles going by the recent appeal court judgement. However, you need to wait for the case to get to supreme court and seen to afinal before you start confronting VIO/Police officers.

When supreme court uploads the appeal court judgement VIO won't have a choice but to comply, otherwise they will be breaking the law when they ask a private vehicle owner for road worthiness

They're just thieves, lol

Some years ago, I went to do roadworthiness.

The VIO chaps discovered a problem with the braking system, in its early stages.

Took it to a mechanic, who fixed it, and then back to VIO to get the roadworthiness cert.

Doubt they are thieves. At least this lot wasn't.

My own question is: can road worthiness be done anywhere in the country irrespective of where your number plate reads?

If you have a problem, Come to lagos where it is being properly enforced and cars are being inspected by VIO.

It is in everyones interest that your car is actually road worthy.

Are you waiting for your brakes to fail when one small pikin dashes in front of your car?

Or for your car to break down at 8pm in no man's land?

Not even sure what the big deal is. It is 6 freaking k for a year. A smart person will sort out all his cars paperwork and drive with idgaf.

When they stop me I bring out the big transparent envelope of blown up photocopies. Oya. Look to your hearts content.
