APC Convention: Other Chairmanship Candidates Step Down For Buhari’s Choice (2) (3) (4)

Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has said there is nothing wrong if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) adopts the consensus method in choosing its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

The party, at its national convention last week produced its new set of National Working Committee (NWC) members through a consensus arrangement. However, some stakeholders in the party, especially the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023 (SWAGA’23) had said the idea of a consensus presidential candidate for the APC is unacceptable as it will cause rancour and division in the party.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Sagay said consensus candidacy can only be acceptable if all the other aspirants agree in writing that they are comfortable with it.

According to him, if they didn’t agree with the idea of a consensus candidate, then all the aspirants will contest the primary even if President Muhammadu Buhari has anointed one of them as his preferred choice.

He said, “On the issue of consensus presidential candidate, the law provides for it. However, it states clearly that all the candidates must agree in writing to the person picked as the consensus candidate.

“I think I prefer that because it means if they all agreed in writing, then nobody can go to court to challenge the outcome after the consensus candidate has been adopted.

“Now, what this means in effect is that if everybody does not sign accepting that particular candidate, then the election remains open for everybody to contest. That is the implication of not agreeing to the choice of a consensus candidate.

“If by tomorrow, even if the president’s preferred aspirant does not have the written endorsement of all the aspirants to become the consensus candidate, then the election will be thrown open so as not to invalidate the decision of the party.”

They will just grumble and sign the consensus candidate acceptance agreement.
If any of them dares Buhari, Bawa will deal ruthlessly with such an errant member.

They won't because of the firm grip Buhari exerts on the APC. Even the presidential candidate of the party will also be decided by consensus and nobody will kick
Remember SWAGA already lamenting about this some weeks back?

Prof Sagay, Tinibu hyper man.
It will surely end in premium tears.

Buhari should do with APC national body what Tinibu has been doing with the ruling party in Lagos all these years.
They will only wail like a wailing wailers and bark like a toothless bull dog. At the end nothing will happen. grin grin

If we say Buhari is a dictator now, them go say we too dey abuse Mr president

Allow people to make their choices

If your candidate is a presidential material truly, he should know how to convince others

After all he's aiming to be the president, or will you be the one piloting the affairs for him

Considering his colossal failure in governance, Buhari does not have the natural right to choose a successor. He should just go and rest. A consensus arrangement should be strongly resisted. The men are about to be separated from the boys. All the antics by Buni and Malami to hijack APC has failed so far. Jagaban will triumph over all his enemies IJN. Amen!!!

When it comes to politics, give it to the North. Don't be surprised that the essence of this consensus candidate is to bring back Goodluck Jonathan back to power for only one tenure.

Oga buhari is lifeless in every other aspects but when it comes to dealing with Tinubu matter, that guy it's full of life
You can't seat in Lagos and determine what happened in APC. E b like say that message never still clear for una ear. U people really thinks that Buhari and his northern cabals will hand over presidency to Tinubu after seeing what he is doin in Lagos. He picked and unpicked who contest any political post in Lagos under APC, even down to ordinary councillorship. So as power sweet northerners reach, they will fold their hands and watch tinubu become president so he will make Nigeria just as he is doin in Lagos. Even osinbajo is too loyal to Tinubu for them to even consider him.
Sense go later fall on una
