Traditional Ruler Lauds NYSC For Building Unity Through Cultural Interaction


Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, traditional ruler of Umuawulu Community, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for promoting unity through cultural interaction.

Egwuonwu said the at the Cultural Carnival organised by the NYSC for members of Batch A Stream 2 orientation course at the Mbaukwu/Umuawulu permanent Orientation Camp on Saturday.

He said better understanding and deeper appreciation of the diverse cultures of Nigeria by the youth would curb intolerance and greed which were responsible for insecurity and social vices.

He described Anambra as a peaceful state while calling on corps members who would soon be posted to communites to respect their cultures and live amicably with them.

In her remark, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra thanked the corps members for embracing the platform provided for the scheme to deepen the understanding of Nigeria's cultural diversity.

Baderinwa called on youths to blend their identity and modernity perfectly to become a perfect being in the society and worthy ambassadors of their families.

The carnival featured competitive games including parade, egg race, sack race, faster dresser, and specific culture display by the various platoons.
