Role: Legal Counsel, Dispute Management: Multipro Consumer Products Limited
Location: Lagos, Nigeria

We are looking for a highly qualified litigator to take up the newly created role of Legal Counsel, Dispute Management within our Legal Function. The successful candidate will lead the company’s dispute management process, in collaboration with our internal and external stakeholders (other departments in the company, law enforcement authorities, external lawyers, etc.).

Responsibilities
Lead the company’s dispute management process, including preparing witnesses for court appearances, collating evidence and managing the company’s litigation diary and case tracker, in collaboration with management and external counsel.
Proactively identifying potential dispute/litigation risks for the business and advising the company accordingly.
Give accurate and timely counsel to the company in a variety of dispute-prone issues (labor law, marketing, sales, distribution, intellectual property, logistics, finance, regulatory etc.) with the aim of preventing disputes and litigations or managing same.
Regularly advise the company on changes in legislations affecting the business.
Attend court and other dispute management proceedings on behalf of the company.
Represent the company in meetings and interactions with regulators and law enforcement agencies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A minimum of 8 years post- qualification experience (proven litigation experience in a reputable law firm in Nigeria as a litigator, with a demonstrated ability to develop legal defensive or proactive prosecution strategies).
An LL. B from a Nigerian university.
An NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Good commercial awareness.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of Nigerian corporate law, courtroom procedures and the operations of the Nigerian law enforcement agencies.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
Excellent communication skills.
A team player.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Ability to travel within Nigeria on short notice.
