The election season is upon us and every corner is getting busy with political and non-political groups drumming support for their aspirants. Despite these activities and events going on in the political space, a surprisingly large number of the voting community are still undecided on who to vote for come 2023. No doubt the purpose of these many campaign trains and troupes is to convince these undecided voters on why each aspirant works as the best fit for their desired positions. This article will look at some of the achievements of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, showing us why he should be in the conversation surrounding the upcoming presidential race. Today, there are over 700 interest groups in Nigeria urging the Vice-President to run for Presidency because they believe he will do well in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari when his tenure comes to an end in 2023. The Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been travelling around the country to engage in peace talks toward ending the security challenges facing the country. We have seen Professor Yemi Osinbajo paying condolence visits to the affected families and victims of attacks carried out by bandits and violent groups like Boko Haram in the North East. It is also true that in these seven (7) years as Vice-President, he has helped to provide food, shelter, water and other basic amenities for the thousands of people who have been forced to leave their homes following violent attacks and destruction of their properties by these evil elements roaming the country today. The Vice-President is also making efforts to ensure that these persons return back to their homes safely because everybody knows there is no place like home. Also, the Vice-President has supported big technology companies to grow in Nigeria. He attended ceremonies where young Nigerians are rewarded for their efforts in creating and building companies and designs. He has not only supported them with encouragement but ensured investments and money is used to support these companies by young Nigerians. Professor Yemi Osinbajo has said that one of the reasons he supports the youths is because he knows they are the future of the country. In the past administrations, people used to say that the Vice-President does not really do work because the President is in charge. But, Professor Yemi Osinbajo as Vice-President has done many things to help the country, even when the President was not around. We heard of how he sacked the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Lawal Daura who wanted to stop the lawmakers from holding a meeting. It is important to understand that the Vice-President took this action because the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) was not following the law, and the Vice-President as a Professor of Law respects and understands the law very well, so he took the right decision to save the country from more trouble when his boss, the President was away from the country. Although there are many political commentators who will say, the Vice-President has not officially declared his intention to run for the number one position in the land, even when there are speculations that he had already informed his boss, President Munhammadu Buhari of his intention to succeed him after the end of his administration come February 2023. That is a story for another day as this article was to acknowledge the good works and efforts of the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and why he deserves to be in the race for the Presidency. In conclusion, I will say there is a reason why we often ask others if they are familiar with a product or item before we go ahead to purchase it. Thus, moving forward with Professor Yemi Osinbajo (PYO) will simply be relying on his wealth of experience and proven track record in moving the country forward. In local parlance, our people say; "show workings, make your future for bright."
