It made headlines yesterday that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost its case seeking the sack of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.

The case bordered on Ayade’s defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, last year. After all said and done, the case turned out to favour Ayade while the PDP lost based on the ruling of the presiding Judge.

But, not many people knew the intrigues that surrounded the victory of Ayade in court yesterday. One remarkable twist that helped to make Ayade win was because the presiding Judge, Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo had to overrule himself by issuing a judgement that differs from his previous ruling.
