Violence has become so embedded in the fabric of the Nigerian society to the extent of seeing an assault of a customer as normal.

What is an Assault?
“ a person who strikes, touches, or moves, or otherwise applies force of any kind to the person of another, either directly or indirectly, without his consent, or with his consent, if the consent is obtained by fraud, or who by any bodily act or gesture attempts or threatens to apply force of any kind to the person of .

Section 351 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act prescribed the Punishment of assault.

”Any person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanor, and is liable, if no greater
punishment is provided, to imprisonment for one year”.

I have noticed other musicians have been throwing fans off stage for some years now and it is considered normal and okay to majority of Nigerians.

The Davido’s fan who was throw off stage like a Garbage is first a human being with his own dignity,his crime was beign carried away with euphoria of the moment.The fan simply came to display his love and skill for Davido,only to be tossed away like a piece of rubbish.

Throwing a fan off stage can cause him/she temporary or lasting injuries to the fan as well as other fans he was thrown to.

The reasonable thing the Bodyguard could have done was to walk him off stage not throw him to other fans.

Nigerians as a whole must condemn this act in its entirely and Davido and other artistes must apologise to the shabby treatment melted out to their fans over the years.
Anytime a fan walks up stage,he/she should be walked away not thrown or tossed like a rubbish.

In 2008 ,Akon was fined $350 for throwing a fan and some hours of community service.

“Hip-hop star Akon pleaded guilty Wednesday to harassment for tossing a fan off stage at an upstate New York concert last year.

He will serve no jail time as long he performs 65 hours of community service and pays a $US250 ($359) fine, according to the plea bargain in Fishkill Town Court, New York.

The 35-year-old singer threw a teenage boy off the stage during a June 2007 concert at a minor league baseball stadium near Poughkeepsie. Another concertgoer said she suffered a concussion when the teen landed on her.”

Witnesses said a spectator threw something at Akon during the show at Dutchess Stadium. After he asked the crowd to point out the culprit, a security guard picked up a 15-year-old boy and sent him up to the stage. Akon hoisted the teen onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd. The incident was caught on videotape.

After the plea, Akon shook hands with Anthony Smith, the now 16-year-old fan, and apologised to him and his parents.

In conclusion,Davido and his crew should apologise to the guy on video.

Nigerian artistes must learn to treat their fans with respect and dignity at all times.Fans are your customers,they grow your business/brand,they are not animals.
