seanfer:Calabar was a Capital . Let us understand a number of things that still many do not understand. Today there is a country called Unilever which has its origins in a company that existed in the 1880s or even earlier. The Royal Niger Company RNC In Berlin around 1884 European countries took the map of Africa and divided it and they did not email the people on ground to tell them that they had become tenants .Countries like Britain leased or ceded part of their share to companies like the RNC "By Royal Charter from Her majesty the Queen " which traded a lot in palm oil and enforced their will with their private army under British support. Eventually when the British Government took their Charter back they compensated RNC paying them essentially for Nigeria while the tenants were not even part of the conversation. Calabar was the main base for RNC at some point and therefore was the "capital" but in reality the British had to carry out "military operations" to inform the natives that they were tenants of the Queen which of course they resisted bravely against overwhelming force so Calabar was " capital" of territory under charter of the RNC known first as the Oil River Protectorate then as the Niger Coast Protectorate That territory is what would be today the SE and SS east of the Niger even though much of the conquest was not yet fished . Calabar was never capital of the whole of what is today Nigeria . In the North.. Zungeru was the capital whilst Lagos was separate. Notice the name Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria when the whole South was merged in 1906. Colony referred to Lagos which legally was NOT a protectorate but a POSSESION of Queen Victoria |

Nisiw365: why do you guys love embarrassing yourselves on the internet, oyo state with a population of 7.8 million people generates 29.8 billion in vat between January 2020 and February 2021, imo and ebonyi combined have a population of 8.2 million and they generated 36.1 billion in vat in the same period, that is for the federal government collected taxes. As for the state taxes, the IGR, oyo's igr has increased by N15b since makinde became governor (result of higher taxation) and even with that N15b increase, it currently stands at N38b while that of imo and ebonyi combined is N30.5b as a result of the usual lax taxation in the south east. Please research before you just start talking

tollyboy5: Ondo State Government needs to develop the Araromi Coastal Area, it is only 75 km from Lagos and if well managed it can be the next big thing in Nigeria The Ondo State Governor should start out by building a highway to Lagos and a regular fast ferry Service to Lagos 1 Like |
